Fighters for Safer Communities.

Working for Working Families.

Your Voice for a Better Burlington County.

Meet the Candidates

Johnathan is a state-licensed insurance producer from Southampton Township who focuses on bringing affordable healthcare to working class families. Johnathan is running for County Commissioner to bring twenty-first century leadership to Burlington County government with a focus on combating addiction, rebuilding the middle class, and making life more affordable for Burlington County residents.

Nick has served as a New Hanover Township Committeeman for the last five years. As Committeeman, Nick worked to upgrade both the police and fire departments, deliver the lowest crime rate in the county, and provide needed repairs to the local senior center. He is now running for County Commissioner to make our communities safer, expand programming for our seniors, and put affordability front and center in Mount Holly.

On the Issues

Addiction

Addiction kills, and under Felicia Hopson, Burlington County has seen a 116% increase in opioid deaths.1 As the son of a recovered addict, Johnathan understands that addiction is a massive public health crisis that shatters families and ravages communities. Public policy should tackle the root causes of this disease which is burying so many parents, children, and friends. We’ll work to eliminate the stigma and support families struggling with addiction.

BCIT and Trade Schools

In a world where college has become unaffordable for many families, there is another way. Burlington County needs to support students entering the trades by expanding the options offered at our vocational school, Burlington County Institute of Technology (BCIT).  The BCIT high schools and adult education programs must join the 21st century and include career paths such as programming and web development, Information technology, and solar installation and maintenance.

Fiscal Responsibility

There is no such thing as the government’s money; it’s the people’s money. New Jersey is one of the most economically unequal and over-taxed states in the country. Burlington County Democrats have joined Governor Murphy and the Democrat-run legislature in wasting your tax dollars to benefit themselves and their politically-connected friends. We will work to maintain a balanced budget by increasing shared services, cutting waste, and reducing unnecessary bureaucracy.

Jobs and Labor

Growing our local economy is essential to strengthening our middle class. The people of Burlington County deserve gainful jobs that last. We will support economic development measures for our farmers, small businesses, and trades. We’ll provide much-needed jobs throughout the county specifically by investing in our crumbling infrastructure.

Open Space and Farmland Preservation

Burlington County is one of the greenest counties in America. Our pinelands and natural beauty makes us a uniquely special place in New Jersey. Our farmers are a cherished part of our communities that enhance our food supply while also supporting the continuing operations of Joint Base MDL. While the Democrats slashed the Open Space Trust Fund levels, we will show dedication and appreciation for our most valuable assets – our farms and open space.

Public Safety

All Burlington County families should feel safe and protected in their own homes. All first responders should feel valued and appreciated – and as the proud father of a police officer, Nick knows firsthand the pressures and sacrifices made by our local law enforcement agencies. Since taking office, Democrat county commissioners have shown disrespect and disregard towards our police, EMS, and fire departments. We’ll work with local law enforcement to address trends in crime; and will listen to our first responders when they provide feedback about what they need to provide quality services to our shared residents.

Public Transportation

Many of our roads and bridges have crumbled in recent years, and have never been rebuilt, such as the Centerton Road Bridge. Our public transportation routes are lagging behind the rest of the state, leaving many of our rural and suburban residents behind. We will undertake a bold expansion of public infrastructure investments in order to generate the labor force necessary to restore our roads and bridges, and to modernize and revolutionize public transportation in Burlington County.

Restoration of the Rankokus Reservation

Burlington County residents will remember the biannual Indian Arts Festivals put on by the Powhatan Renape Nation, and we all cherish the cultural enrichment and historical education that this tribe brought to our communities. In 2011, the Powhatan Renape Nation was evicted from the Rankokus Indian Reservation. In the twelve years since, there has been complete silence and inaction on the part of the Democrats, and they have expressed no desire to restore the tribe to their land. We will.

Small Business

We recognize that small businesses are the real job creators and drivers of economic growth in Burlington County. After four years of rampant inflation and disappearing relief opportunities, many of our small businesses have suffered or even been forced to close. We will rescue small businesses with a generous expansion of small business grants, and add a provision to automatically update the grant totals every year to account for inflation. This will free up capital, allowing our job creators to invest more in their businesses, create more jobs, and increase their workers’ wages organically.
